Our Story

FROM CHILDHOOD MEMORIES TO A FASHION DREAM IN THE HEART OF AUSTRALIA

A humble beginning inspired by family, led by passion

Born and raised in a small town in Vietnam, Hau Phan (also known as Flora) was instilled with an entrepreneurial spirit by her mother, a woman who has been involved in the textile industry for over 30 years. From a young age, Flora followed her parents to the market, where she became familiar with her first pieces of fabric and soon developed a sharp business sense and a natural ability to recognise fabric quality.

Although her family encouraged her to pursue academics and a stable office career, Flora’s passion for fashion remained constant. While studying and working in Ho Chi Minh City, she launched a small online clothing shop, a modest beginning that kept her dream of creating her own fashion brand alive. However, the hustle and bustle of life and work pressure led her to temporarily set aside this aspiration.

Koolkutela - a one-stop shop for modern families

After relocating to Melbourne, amidst the demands of parenting and work, Flora gradually realised that, finding fashion pieces that were sophisticated, simple, practical, and true to one’s personal style was no easy task. It often meant visiting multiple stores with no guarantee of finding the right item.

From this very real personal need, one that resonated with many modern women, Koolkutela was born.
